The Animals in Kenya are a Big Part of the Magic of Kenya

The animals in Kenya were my first interest in Kenya.
That's probably true for most people.

    Some of the popular animals...

    The White Rhino
    They are not white but their name comes from the south African word white which means wide.
    Thy have a wide mouth as opposed to the black rhino which has a beaked or pointed mouth.
    They can be found in groups and often in the open.

    The Black Rhino is elusive and solitary.
    They are not black. You might see one
    slipping through the trees and they rarely come out in the open.

    Water Buffalo
    They are one of the most dangerous animals in Africa.

    Hippopotamus
    can weigh as much as 3 tons. Hippos's kill more Africans than any other beast.
    Leopard
    The leopard is the hardest to spot while on game drives.
    They are nocturnal (active at night). It's rare to see them on the ground in daylight.
    They are usually spotted by the sight of their tail hanging from a limb or from the impala or gazelle hanging from the tree.

    Elephants
    Protective of their turf, They can weigh as much as 5 tons.
    The African Elephant has bigger ears than the Indian Elephant.
