Safari Clothing What to Wear, What Not to Wear on Your African Safari

African Safari Clothing--What to wear, and Not to wear

Choose Natural Colors that blend with the landscape, but Not Camo. Safari Clothing

Wear, light browns, beige, khaki, taupe, and what would be considered natural greens or grays.
No camo (in some countries you can be arrested for wearing camo unless you are a member of the military).

Another key factor is fabric- Natural fabrics that breathe are the order of the day-
That means cotton, linen, tropical weight wool for cool evenings, jackets, and sweaters.

There is also the matter of
fit and style.

So if you need some new clothes that's what you want to look for in safari clothing.

You can wear long or short sleeves; shorts are fine if you'll be riding in a safari van.

Long sleeves and full length pants give you additional protection from the sun, dust and insects.

You'll also want a cap or wide brim hat and a scarf can be useful as the terrain can be dusty and having a scarf, wet wipes and a hat can help.

Footwear

You'll want good shoes for walking, socks and more casual shoes-sandals and something you can wear in the shower...or on rainy days.

More things to Consider

You don't really need the 'classic' safari outfit-
the kind of outfit you might see in an older 'Hollywood movie'-
however, here are a couple more items to consider

  • a safari vest
  • a safari jacket
  • a safari 'outfit'
If you are staying in a fine hotel or one of the country clubs You'll also want a couple of nice outfits.

The same rules apply except you can use more color and variation in style and fabric, shoes can be a little dressier and you may want to take conservative swim wear.

And here are a few more items you'll want and or need.
