What Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Bono and Kenya Relief Have In Common

Kenya Relief, Angelina Jolie(Goodwill Ambassador
for the United Nations Commission on Refugees),
Brad Pitt, Bono, (and others)
have been to Kenya, been to Africa, all have cried out about the poverty, the disease and the aids crisis in Africa and Kenya.

This raises awareness.

I'll tell you...
Here is a way You can help.

What follows is a letter from Steve James,
President and founder of Kenya Relief.

(Steve's daughter, Brittney sponsored a child through Christian Children’s Fund, died unexpectedly, and Steve went to Kenya to meet the child Brittney sponsored.)

Here's the letter

"Would you consider this a success?

  • 200 tons of medical equipment and relief supplies shipped to Kenya
  • 20,000 patients receiving health care in 8 years.
  • 80,000 prescriptions filled free of charge
  • Tons of food shared with orphanages and churches
  • 4 churches constructed
  • 1 public school constructed for 650 students
  • 5 wells drilled with water being shared in community
  • 10 homes built for widows with monthly support
  • 65 goats given to 65 widows from 6 different denominations
  • 116 total orphans now being fully cared for in loving home
  • and that's not all because Kenya Relief has also helped

  • 225 missionaries sent to work in Kenya
  • 230 blind patients received cataract surgery
  • 60 patients received general surgery
  • Three pastors training conferences
  • Two outdoor evangelism crusades
  • Free health care to many orphanages
  • Modern health care clinic and surgery available to all
  • Medical supplies shared with 5 different hospitals
  • Food and clothing sent to drought stricken communities
  • 100 children supported through Christian Children’s Fund
  • 5 Kenyan children receiving college education
  • 10 orphans now in vocational training
  • 35 Kenyans with full time employment
  • Thousands of Bibles, hymnals and musical instruments shared with many church’s
  • 400 new bicycles given to pastors and teachers
  • 3500 children ministered to in Vacation Bible School
  • Thousands of children received healthy meals

Would you agree, the work of Kenyarelief is good?

If so, let me tell you what the people in Kenya are crying out for each time I visit.

They cry for a hospital.

They cry out for a hospital!!!

Tens of thousands go without adequate care.
Kenyarelief owns 65 acres and we have a very nice clinic and outpatient surgery but the need for daily care and a place to admit the sick is desperately needed.

A Hospital would save thousands of lives.
A Hospital would employ many of our orphans who are being exited and need a job.
A Hospital would make a difference for generations to come.

We are ready to meet this challenge.
We need your help.

I believe you can see how God has blessed the work of kenyarelief.org but the community is currently being served by a hospital that often has two patients in every bed and the staff is terribly under equipped.

We are praying that God would place in your heart a burden and a desire to help us build this hospital.
If you cannot give would you partner with us to pray for God’s provision? Kenya Relief is committed to seeing the hospital completed in 2010.
Kindly respond with your commitment to join us in giving and or in praying for this need for 2010. We need your help!"

Forever His

Steve

Kenya hospital Now I realize that you may read this and not know Steve or me in any personal way. Maybe you believe that it's not your responsibility to help build a hospital which would save and improve the health and well being of people you may not know.

However if you doubt it I encourage You to go visit a government run hospital in a rural part of Kenya....You can drop a suggestion in the suggestion box.
