An Amboseli Safari Includes Seeing Wildlife, Maasai, and Great Views of Mt. Kilimanjaro
Go on an Amboseli Safari at Amboseli National Park and ask yourself "How is it that there is a lake that's dried up except during the rainy season and we have swamps all around?" Like Mt Kenya, Mt Kilimanjaro is snow capped year round. It is the melting snow that replenishes the swamps and marshes. There is little rainfall-about 14" per year. Amboseli is best known for the great views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and as one of the best places in Africa to see free ranging wild elephants.

Amboseli is a relatively small park: 390 kmē (150 sq. mi.) and is fairly close to Nairobi (160 mi. or 285 km). It is also a popular park-one of the
Top Five Game Parks in Kenya.
The park is located south of Nairobi along the Kenya-Tanzania border. You will find the Masai (also Maasai) in the area and the park was once known as Maasai Amboseli Game Reserve. Many safari tour operators offer itineraries to include several parks. You can go on a safari at Amboseli as well as a Masa Mara Safari. Kenya has an abundance of Parks. You will find several lodges and tented camps as well as a small airport at Amboseli.
