Your African Safari Trip is Moments in Time. Capture Some of those Moments With Your Camera, But Don't Become a Slave to It.
When you go on an African safari trip you will want to keep some of your memories. Some in pictures or video and some in your journal. Many of the pictures on this website were made with a digital camera with a 3X optical zoom. This picture of Lake Victoria is an example.
A 6X or a 10X optical zoom would be better, particularly useful for longer shots. Lens covers are also useful for separate lens for single body cameras. It can get quite dusty. Practice taking pictures at the zoo or outdoors. Learn to use whatever equipment you have, whether a film camera or a digital camera. I have missed some sights fooling with the camera or thinking "I've got to get a picture of this." There are events that may be best stored in our memory, Some feeling that really cannot totally be captured by sight or sound... some that are simply stored in our heart and mind. I remember it vividly. He opened up the camera to take out the "film". He unfolds the piece of paper and softly says: "Look the camera has changed it from a black and white picture to color." When our son was little-5 or 6 years old - we lived on a farm. Sometimes he would take us on tours of the farm and he would take an old Kodak Brownie camera with him. That, and some paper. He would sketch a picture, fold it up, open the camera and put it inside. Later he would go to his bedroom, take out his crayons and color the pictures. Then he would put it back inside the camera and would surprise us with the magic of the camera. Wherever you go on your African safari trip take some pictures and build memories that can last a lifetime...
