When you want to see life from a little different perspective...Go and Make the most of Your African Safari
Kenya: Where to Go
The top rated parks are, Masa Mara, Aberdare,Amboseli, Samburu, and Tsavo. Lake Nakuru National Park is also highly rated (most famous for the huge population of Flamingos) and Nairobi National Park is also very popular as it just 3-4 mi. south of Nairobi.
Take binoculars, a
camera
, and keep a journal, write a book (at least a page), Teddy Rosevelt, Ernest Hemingway, Karen Blixen did.
Before you go, get a journal and a book-a field guide, on wildlife.
When you go
is also important. With two rainy seasons, the
weather
plays a big part and the wildlife moves around.
Generally
July, August, September,
and January and February are the driest months
and the best times to go on an African Safari Kenya.
Your best viewing times are dusk and dawn as the wildlife is more active and moves around more at those times.
You also increase your chances of seeing wildlife in the dry seasons because the wildlife can be found around the waterholes, rivers, and streams.
Who to Go With.
Choosing an Africa Safari Kenya tour operator is paramount.Safari tour operators vary wildly. There are three basic levels
Luxury or Deluxe
Midrange
and Economy
A good safari tour operator will
Know the terrain
the wildlife and culture
speak Your language
Get a good tour operator, (this is not the place you want to economize). Generally the smaller the group you go with the better and for several reasons 6-7 people is the ideal size group.
Kenya started establishing National Parks and Game Reserves in 1946. Nairobi National Park was established first, and it is a popular park-about 7 km. or 3-4 miles south of Nairobi. Then came Tsavo.
The Kenya parks and reserves were built around the wildlife and habitat. Go to several as many Safari operators suggest and you see different wildlife and different regions. (Don't spread yourself too thin and try and see too many places in a short time.)
Some reserves are
Marine Parks.
Some Game Reserves are well known such as Masai Mara and some are remote such as the Samburu, Shaba, and Buffalo Springs Reserves.
Now there are dozens of National Parks or Game Reserves where You can go on Safari.
