Take a Walk through Hells Gate National Park Because
You Can. Hells Gate National Park is one of the few parks in Kenya where you can walk-unguarded- in the park.
It's well know for that and it certainly has a 'catchy' name. There is a gorge between two cliffs and there are Geothermal Springs. It's an adventure park- you can climb cliffs, walk through gorges, bicycle through the park, of course at your own risk. Lake Naivasha
The park is 90km (55 mi.) northwest of Nairobi and south of Lake Naivasha. there is a tarmac road so you can drive to the park. Terrain At 1900 m (6,200 ft.) above sea level There are cliffs, columns and gorges to explore. The scenery is interesting. The park is the home of 2 extinct volcanoes-Hobley's and Olkari-lava rock at your footsteps. There are also areas of rolling savannah. Activities The park lends itself to cliff climbing, hiking,cycling, camping, photography and birdwatching Wildlife Birds-cliff dwelling birds or the kind that like circling and nesting in high places Vultures, Eagles, Raptors and smaller species of birds as well. There are not many of the big cats or predators.There are various forms of antelope, the zebra, buffalo and baboons, gazelle and reedbuck You can get there by road or fly in and land at Naivasha air strip...and...you are right 'next door' to Mt. Longonot National Park. Mt. Longonot (2777 km.) is just east of Hell's Gate. The park is best known for the views of the Rift Valley and Lake Naivasha and the forest that has developed in the crater of the extinct volcano.
